How to use social media for mental wellness

I’m grateful for this medium “social media” to bring people around the globe closer but we must not let it separate us from the ones that are around us. ⠀⠀

⠀1. Ask yourself how do I feel after scrolling? Does this encourage me and lift me up? Or does it create anxiety and unnecessary comparison? Is this fueling an emotional addiction or a belief about yourself or the world that you no longer wish to have. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

2. Notice times when you pick up the phone. Are you able to put your phone away for prolonged periods of time? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

3. Plan specific times each week when you are away from your phone. Put it on airplane mode. Plan this ahead of time and make a habit of it.

4. Notice when your phone is pulling you away from your partner, children or friends. Pay attention to what your family tells you. Your kids will often tell you the truth as it is. You just have to listen.

5. Be intentional with accounts you follow. Regularly unfollow or follow accounts that bring you closer your to your truer self and inspire you.
